This state-of-the-art 16 bed home was built specifically for Alzheimer’s & Dementia memory care. It is locked 24 hours per day. This program is unique in that it is not a wing, or unit, but an entire building designed for dementia care. Guided by OHFLAC, our licensing body, we designed a building that allows free and safe wandering inside and out; a nurse’s station with an unobstructed view; large, cathedral ceilings in the living room, which has multiple zones for our residents to freely enjoy. Our kitchen has an open-air window to the dining and multi-purpose rooms. This design allows for aromas from the kitchen to resonate with residents. Our bedrooms are all wired for cable and individual phone lines. Residents have a choice of a semi-private room, private room, or private with bath. Our beauty parlor allows residents to get professional hair styling. The breathtaking pastoral view has a mountain skyline with a creek, which attracts many deer for our residents to view with delight. Braley care homes services residents with memory care needs from all over West Virginia including the Charleston, Huntington, and Morgantown areas in our Hurricane facility.
All direct care staff receive 30 hours training in Alzheimer’s & Dementia care. This interactive training covers a broad range of topics. A memory care activities director with input from a multi-disciplinary team, designs a daily program for each resident. Our highly trained staff includes nurse aids, AMAPs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurse, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and activity coordinator. The staff to resident ratio is increased due to the needs of this population.
Braley Care Homes’ philosophy is “quality care in a home-like environment.” This is crucial to preserving ones dignity and self-worth. “quality care” is obvious, but “home-like environment” often gets forgotten about in large facilities. All of our programs are designed specifically with home in mind.
